The midway point of the 2025 Formula 1 season arrives this weekend, and there’s no better location to round off the first half of the year than Silverstone.

This weekend will see Mercedes celebrate its past, present, and future, with the electric British Grand Prix atmosphere as the backdrop.

Here’s Toto thoughts before the race weekend.

After our best result of the season in Canada, a solitary P5 in Austria was not what the team had hoped for in Spielberg, but the chance to put learnings from Styria into practice comes just a few days later.

“After a tough Grand Prix in Austria, it is good to get back racing straight away,” says Toto. “We deliberately experimented on set-up in Spielberg; it was a useful test and there are positive learnings we can apply this weekend, but it ultimately didn’t help our performance.”

Home Comforts

Silverstone, just nine miles from our Lauda Drive home, and 20 miles removed from our team-mates at Mercedes High Performance Powertrains (HPP) in Brixworth, has been a happy hunting ground for the team in recent years.

We have nine wins and 20 podiums since returning to sport in 2010, and the weather could again play its part in extending that run in 2025.

Toto says: “Silverstone has typically been a strong circuit for us.”

“The cooler conditions should suit our car, and we are hopeful of putting on a good performance in front of our team-mates and the passionate British fans, who always provide a great atmosphere.”

Surrounded by History

Only Monza has hosted more Grands Prix than Silverstone since 1950, and the British circuit has become firmly engrained in F1’s heritage in that time.

Our nod to that will be very visible before and after the cars take to the track on Friday.

“The very first World Championship race took place at Silverstone 75 years ago, so this weekend carries additional significance for the sport,” says Toto.

“We will take the opportunity to mark this milestone with a celebration of Mercedes' own legacy across automotive and motorsport past, present, and future.

“That will include a revised livery, featuring the sunset beam orange of the recently launched CONCEPT AMG GT XX, the ground-breaking concept car that offers an impressive insight into the future of AMG.

“Whilst it will be an exciting weekend off track with several activations, our full focus remains of course on the track.

“We will look to bounce back from last weekend and put on a performance more befitting of Mercedes' storied history.”
