Toto Excited for Busy Miami GP Weekend

After an exciting and unique two days in New York to start the week, the team heads to Florida for the sixth round of the 2024 season and the third edition of the Miami Grand Prix.

Miami week has quickly earned a reputation as being one of the busiest of the year for teams on the Formula One grid, and this year is no different.

Toto and the team are excited to get back to the West Coast.

“We’re ready for the first US race of the year,” said Toto.

“Miami is one of the busiest off-track events of the year for the team.

“We have a full schedule of events in Florida and we’re looking forward to a positive week on and off the track”

The week may end in the Sunshine State, but it started in the Big Apple.

On Monday night, Toto and Lewis lit up the Empire State Building to launch our new WhatsApp emoji car in partnership with our official team messaging partner.

One day later, the streets of Manhattan were briefly closed off to allow Lewis to run down Fifth Avenue in W12, with a life-sized version of the new emoji car also in attendance.

Toto said: “We’ve already enjoyed a fantastic few days in New York with our partner WhatsApp. It is great to see the growth of both their brand and F1 in the US to such an extent.

“It highlights the impact of our sport in the USA, and we look forward to building on that growth.”

On track, the team will be looking to build too, with the first series of upgrades for W15 set to appear on the car at the Miami International Autodrome this weekend.

“It’s a challenging circuit, and we will be looking to put in a stronger showing in Miami and optimise the car,” said Toto.

“We know we need to add performance.”

The second F1 Sprint of the season will take place this weekend, with the format providing mixed results for the team last time out in Shanghai.

Lewis claimed P2 in Saturday morning’s Sprint race with George P8, but both then struggled in Grand Prix Qualifying after using the second parc fermé period - introduced for 2024 - to make tweaks to W15.

“We did not perform our best in China, making too many set-up changes ahead of Qualifying,” said Toto.

“That put us on the back foot for the rest of the weekend, although both drivers did well to bring home points [George P6, Lewis P9].”
