Mexico City GP:
Team Motivated By Immediate Chance to Bounce Back - Toto

From Austin to Mexico City, Formula One rolls in to South America for the first time in 2024 this weekend, as the triple-header continues with a visit to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

After a four-week break between Singapore and last weekend at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), we are well and truly in the thick of the F1 action once more.

Austin was a tough one for the team, with George's P6 on Sunday the maximum the team could achieve after a challenging Saturday and Lewis' early DNF in the Grand Prix.

Of course, the best tonic for a bad race can sometimes be the chance to go racing again the week after, and that is exactly what Mexico City provides the team.

"After a difficult weekend in Austin, we have the opportunity to bounce back immediately in Mexico," said Toto. Despite the setbacks at COTA, Toto still found the positives from a Grand Prix that saw us introduce an update to W15.

Toto said: "Our performance in Texas showed that there is inherent performance in the car. Our challenge is extracting this consistently.

"That is not the result of one specific challenge, but the interaction of the car across both aero and mechanical factors.

"We have five more races to work on this before the end of the season. It is important that we do so, not only for our immediate performance but to also set ourselves up well for 2025."

Having tackled the more conventional task of Austin, the team and W15 now prepare to face one of the calendar's more distinct challenges.

"With its high altitude, Mexico presents a unique challenge," said Toto.

"The power unit has to work harder and, to counteract the thin air, we run at maximum downforce.

"It will provide another opportunity to evaluate our recent update package."

Friday will also see Junior Driver Kimi Antonelli take part in his second FP1 session of 2024, in line with F1 regulations which state all drivers must sit out Free Practice 1 for a rookie driver during the season.

Kimi's first FP1 came in September at Monza, where he deputised for George during Friday's first session. This time around he will driver Lewis' W15.

The Italian was announced as part of our 2025 driver line-up alongside George the next day.

Toto said: "We look forward to seeing Kimi continue his development on track in Mexico."
