George

George has lived and breathed motorsport from his very earliest years. With an older brother who was a national karting champion in his own right, the racetrack has always been his natural home. Now as a Grand Prix victor, the 26-year-old is one of the most exciting talents in the sport.

"It wouldn’t matter if I was British or not, all the drivers say the same: there is a special atmosphere at Silverstone that is different to a number of the other grands prix. It has the best crowds of the year and the fans are incredibly passionate. To hear and see the crowd cheering you on is so special and it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. There’s nothing quite like it.

I’ve been fortunate to race there throughout my junior career. My first ever race weekend in BRDC Formula 4 was on the Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone. I remember thinking how great it was that we got to follow in the wheel tracks of some of the incredible F1 drivers that have raced here. I won two of the three races that weekend and I’ve loved it ever since. I also won there in my first weekend in European F3 so it’s perhaps no surprise that it’s my favourite circuit. 

The track itself is stunning. It’s so fast and flowing. It challenges you in every sector and driving an F1 car around it is an absolute privilege."

More commonly known by his middle name, Kimi, he was born in Bologna, Italy, in 2006 and joined the Junior Programme in April 2019, off the back of various titles and wins in the junior karting categories. He will become the third youngest driver to start an F1 Grand Prix when he lines up at the 2025 Australian GP, at 18 years, six months, and 20 days old.

Fred's Major Milestones

“My favourite track has got to be Monaco. Things have changed a bit since 2023 when I won and got pole position in Monaco. I just realised when you find the confidence on that track and feel confident to push the car to the limit, there is nothing like it anywhere else in the world. That track has so much history as well. 

“Asking any driver before the season, I am sure they are going to say the highlight would be to win Monaco. To achieve that in Formula 2 and be quite dominant there as well is really a good experience and something I’ll never forget. 

“So it’s my favourite track because of my history there and also because it’s an incredible track to drive, once you find the confidence with the car and feel you can push right up against the walls. That’s very special.”
