Apprentice Roles

Car Build

As a Car Build Apprentice, you will work within the fast-paced environment of our Build Assembly Department. The role will incorporate the efficient and effective use of a wide variety of assembly practices and processes to deliver these products on time and to the highest level of quality. You will learn assembly processes based on design specifications and engineering drawings, conduct tests and quality control, ensure systems are correctly set up, perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting faults, document and report tests and inspections and manage parts for inventory whilst working towards achieving a Level 3 qualification.

Car Build (Electronics)

As an Electronics Apprentice you will work within the fast-paced environment of our Electronics Wiring Department within Car Build. The role will incorporate the efficient and effective use of a wide variety of electronics wiring and assembly practices and processes to deliver these products on time and to the right level of quality. During the apprenticeship, you will support the existing Electronics Manufacturing Team, become an important and effective part of this manufacturing process whilst working towards achieving a Level 3 qualification.

Composite Machining

As a Composite Machining Apprentice you will work within the fast-paced environment of our Composite Machining Centre where we produce all the carbon fibre parts for our Formula One cars. You will be part of a highly skilled team of engineers and you will learn to set and operate machine tools to efficiently manufacture high complexity, high value, and precision engineered components for our cars whilst working towards achieving a Level 3 qualification.

Purchasing

As a Purchasing Apprentice, you will learn and work in a fast-paced Procurement function where no two days are the same. You will have the opportunity to cover the end-to-end procurement process within the Direct and Indirect Purchasing Teams on 3–6 month rotations allowing you to develop your knowledge, skills and understanding whilst contributing to the Team’s Procurement goals whilst working towards achieving CIPS Level 3 Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations.

Race Team (Heritage)

As a Race Team Apprentice working with the Mercedes Heritage team, you will learn from past and present technicians working on the very first modern era silver arrow all the way up to the current race car. You will learn everything from electric vehicles to internal combustion engines in the automotive road car sector whilst working towards a Level 3 Light vehicle maintenance technician qualification.

Research and Development Apprentice (Dynos)

As an Apprentice within the Research and Development group, this position will be embedded within our Dyno Test Facility. With multiple test beds to enable the testing of engine, transmission and brake systems, this facility is a critical step for our F1 car getting out to track safely and performing at its best. You will take a hands-on role that will enable you to work closely with the car and its components as they take part in sign-off, performance and reliability testing before heading out to the track. Reporting to a senior member of our technician team, your apprenticeship will provide periods of integration across the different areas of our dyno environment whilst working towards achieving a Level 3 qualification.

Research and Development Apprentice (Test Lab)

As an Apprentice within the Research and Development group, this position will be embedded within our Test and Development Laboratory, and you will take a hands-on role in developing our ability to sign-off safety and reliability critical components for use on our race car. Reporting to a senior member of our technician team, your apprenticeship will provide periods of integration across the different areas of our laboratory environment whilst working towards achieving a Level 3 qualification.
