At The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team we are a team of passionate and enthusiastic people who work together to design and develop the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and Grand Prix winner George Russell.

About the Role:

As an Industrial Placement student in our Core Technology Team, you will be a valued member of the IT Department, bringing your analytical nature and high standards to a range of range of exciting, real-world challenges.

Working collaboratively across the IT Department, your ideas and skills will make a tangible contribution to the performance of our team, both on and off the track, working to support, operate and evolve our core capabilities.

During this placement you will have the opportunity to work with industry leading infrastructure, networking and containerisation technologies in on-site datacentres and around the world, utilising Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps methodologies and Site Reliability practices in associated software systems.

Successful candidates will have:

Essential:

  • As a minimum, the successful candidate must have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies, and must have at least one year of academic studies left (undergraduate or postgraduate) at the time of taking up your placement with us in July 2025.

  • You will have a strong background in computer science with a good understanding of infrastructure, security concepts and principles.

  • You will be capable of working both independently and as part of a team, have a learning mindset, good organisation and problem-solving skills and a fine attention to detail.

  • Flexibility in hours and approach is required, along with a ‘can do’, ‘team-playing’ attitude and the ability to work to strict deadlines under minimal supervision.

It does not matter whether you already have an interest in motorsport, or not: we are looking for candidates who are passionate about reaching their full potential and are excited about constantly learning. Whatever your background, we believe that you will find your placement with us a memorable and enriching experience.

Desirable:

  • Any industry recognised certifications.

  • Working towards a degree in computer science, software development or related fields.

  • A passion for IT and Technology.

Skills you could gain from your placement include:

  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the infrastructure and networking systems for an organization.

  • Evaluating, designing and developing both existing and new systems and services.

  • Analysing service capacity requirements and optimizing operations through automation.

  • Setting up and configuring infrastructure and networks across multiple locations.

  • Providing technical support for all components of computer systems, including both hardware and software.

  • Managing network IP addresses and communicating information and requirements effectively and concisely.

  • Installing, upgrading, and maintaining critical system infrastructure and services across a business.

All assessments in the recruitment process are in English: this is the primary language used within the organisation and you need a good level of written and spoken English in the Industrial Placement role.
