About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Operations group for a Lead Build Production Engineer. The newly formed department will allow the successful candidate to shape this new function and build the required team, which will be responsible for driving process improvements across our Car Build areas, improving data accuracy, and increasing productivity and efficiency in assembly and service of our race cars.
The group will be tasked with defining how we build and maintain F1 cars of the future, to the highest standards or quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and lead the engineering function within Car Build, encompassing hydraulics, composites, transmission and heat rejection systems. The group will interface with the team to improve quality, eliminate non-value-adding process and shorten lead times.
Accountability for improving communication and collaboration between the Design Office and Build Departments.
Identifying and delivering build process improvements under-pinned by new technology
Feedback opportunities to the Design Office on mass, cost, efficiency underpinned by lean principles
Develop visualisation techniques to give clear build status/progress through new car build
Ownership of ISO certification, calibration, SOPs and ADs, working closely with Quality
Maximize effectiveness of included time to optimise resource under the cost cap
Problem solving using root cause analysis tools to troubleshoot build process/production issues
Work closely with the ERP Team to improve data accuracy
Skills/ Knowledge Required
Degree educated in a relevant engineering discipline
Knowledge of build or manufacturing processes gained in Formula 1, Aerospace or similar industry
Understanding of industry standard quality requirements
Ability to use 3DX, CATIA V5 or similar CAD package for the interrogation of models is desirable.
Ability to interpret drawings, technical specifications, and product control documentation
Proficient computer skills including MS Office. Knowledge of SAP desirable
Able to produce project plans and manage small scale projects
Promotes new methods/process equipment
Leadership experience in a small to mid-sized team preferable
