About the Role:

We are looking for a leader for our AI Development team within the Performance Capability Department. The aim of the AI Development team is to provide best-in-class AI technologies and models to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations.

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer is responsible for working with the Head of Performance Software Applications to define, develop, and oversee AI applications within the Performance Capability Group. This is a senior role which involves leading a newly formed and growing team of engineers and collaborating with departments such as Design Office, Vehicle Performance and Aero Development.

What you’ll be doing:

Technical

  • Steer the design, development, and implementation of AI algorithms and models to solve complex business problems.

  • Develop and manage shared pipelines for the AI model lifecycle and integration.

  • Encourage technical consistency with other teams at MGP and endorse common tools and practices.

  • Advocate for data analysis and pre-processing techniques to enhance data comprehension and model efficacy.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in AI and machine learning, and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement.

  • Ensure the performance, scalability, and security of AI applications, implementing best practices in software development and deployment.

  • Organize and carry out correlation activities as necessary to ensure the ongoing quality of models against real data, keeping simulation results valid.

Managerial

  • Collaborate with the user community to gather and prioritize business requirements.

  • Oversee technical projects and critical infrastructure to meet external demands and deadlines promptly.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business and software development, to define project objectives and deliver innovative AI solutions.

  • Prioritize and manage the group’s workload effectively.

What we are looking for:

  • A strong desire to create best-in-class AI models in a motorsport environment, aligning personal skills and interests with business objectives.

  • Significant professional experience in a similar role, preferably within a high-performance environment.

  • Experience with line management and mentoring a group of engineers.

  • Ideally have some experience with mentoring other engineers in a similar field

  • Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities honed through managing complex tasks and projects.

  • A Master or PhD in engineering, mathematics, physics, data science, or a related scientific field.

  • A solid foundation in statistics, data science, linear algebra, machine learning algorithms, and optimization.

  • Extensive knowledge of Python libraries and frameworks for AI development, such as PyTorch and Apache Spark

  • Experience with software development methodologies.
