In celebration of Pride Month, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team will be demonstrating our public support for the LGBTQ+ community by running with the Mercedes-Benz Pride Star on the car for the next three races.
The rainbow Pride Star will feature on the nose of both cars for the Azerbaijan, Canadian and British Grands Prix, raising awareness for Pride Month and what it represents.
Both Lewis and George will also wear the Pride Star on their helmets for these races, across the month of June, adding their voices to the global celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.
As part of our Accelerate 25 programme, displaying the Pride star represents a visual expression of our commitment to creating a more diverse and inclusive team. We firmly believe that promoting a culture in which our team members can freely express their personality and identity will result in a stronger and more performant team.
Over the course of Pride month, we will be hosting a networking BBQ for all team members to attend, highlighting the importance of becoming allies and providing support to their LGBTQ+ colleagues. We are also sharing a series of ‘What Pride means to me’ stories from team members internally across the month, along with facilitating access to a range of Pride related DE&I learning opportunities.
Along with other companies in the Mercedes-Benz family, the Pride Star branding is displayed across our social media platforms and will be for the entire Pride month, using our platform to raise awareness and highlight this special month in the LGBTQ+ calendar.
Under the banner of the Mercedes-Benz Pride Star, we share a commitment to a culture of diversity, inclusivity and stand against all forms of discrimination.
Everyone is different. But we are all equal. We stand for openness, trust and fairness. And we believe everyone deserves to be respected and appreciated for who they are.
