Alex is not only the Jamaican sensation, he is one of the brightest karting prospects.
Gwen Lagrue, Driver Development Advisor, on Alex
Alex was born in Miami, Florida, in 2007 but is a native of Jamaica. He made his karting debut in 2015 and has made quite a name for himself on the karting scene already, over the last few years. Racing is in his family’s blood, as his father, John, is a veteran rally driver who achieved success in the Caribbean.
Starting his career karting closer to home in the Caribbean and the USA, he stepped up to the European karting scene in 2018, claiming various titles and wins over the following seasons. He joined our Junior Programme in 2019.
Alex then stepped up to OK Junior and Junior ROK categories for the 2020 season and remained in OK Junior racing in a number of different international series in 2021, finishing P2 in the WSK Euro Series and P3 in both the WSK Super Master Series and WSK Final Cup – where he competed in OK.
In 2022 he moved up to OK full-time and finished runner-up in the FIA Karting European Championship. He remained in the OK category for 2023 and has enjoyed plenty of success. Highlights have included winning the ‘Champions of the Future’ series, finishing P2 in the FIA KZ2 World Cup and P3 in the FIA Karting European Championship.
At the end of 2023, Alex also made the jump up to single-seater racing, competing in the final two Italian F4 rounds with Prema and showing encouraging speed. He’ll move into F4 competition full-time in 2024, racing in the UAE, Italian and Euro4 series.
Alex is not only the Jamaican sensation, he is one of the brightest karting prospects.
