F1 Sim Racing 2025:
Everything You Need to Know

5 Min Read

While the F1 season is getting ready to roar into life, the F1 Sim Racing world is already in full swing in 2025.

With narrow time gaps, wheel-to-wheel action and dramatic race-finishes guaranteed, the F1 Sim Racing World Championship returns this week, and the team will be looking to carry on its strong form from Event 1 in January.

Here is everything you need to know about the second week of F1 Sim Racing season.

When?

This season’s campaign is taking place across the first three months of the year, with four races in January, February, and March.

All 10 teams on the F1 grid will enter two cars in every race, which will see some of the best Esports racers on the planet compete against each other around some of the world’s most famous tracks.

How?

Teams will gather in Stockholm, Sweden and compete on the rigs from one location using the same connection, known as a LAN event.

Each event will see drivers complete a single free practice session, before Qualifying to set the grid for the race. All race distances will be 50% of a Formula One Grand Prix.

The points system for each race will also mirror that of a Grand Prix: 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 for the top 10 finishers. One point will be awarded for pole position and fastest lap if the driver has finished in the top 10, as in F1.

Who?

As in 2024, the Mercedes roster will be made up of three of the best Sim racers in the business: Dani Bereznay, Jake Benham, and new signing István Puki, who made the switch from 2024 Constructors’ champions Ferrari in the off-season.

Dani and Jake raced for the team in last season’s championship, racing on a rotational basis to finish P9 and P13 in the final standings.

Hungarian Dani is a proven F1 Sim Racing winner with five victories to his name. In 2018 he finished runner-up in the series, and helped Mercedes claim the Constructors’ title.

He returned for a second stint with the team at the start of last season.

What (happened last time)?

The first event back in January saw four races across three days. Consistent showings from all three drivers in Australia, China, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia means Mercedes sits top of the Teams Standings going into event two.

New signing István was straight on the pace, picking up a P2 finish at Albert Park and Bahrain. Further podiums from Dani in Australia and China were backed up by another P3 for Jake on season debut in Saudi.

Team Principal Oli MacFarlane said: “We are delighted to be going into the second event leading the championship, but there is a long way to go.

"It has been a quick turnaround between the first two events but it has been so exciting to see the team taking every opportunity to look for opportunity in all areas.

"Every team is so consistently strong in F1 Sim-Racing so it is on us to make sure we keep executing in all areas to keep the positive results coming."
