Fave Goodwood Moments

Despite the British weather causing havoc, the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed once again provided the Team with some unforgettable memories.

Here’s five of our fave moments from the weekend.

A Run for the Ages

Without doubt our highlight of the weekend came on Sunday afternoon, as Mick Schumacher got behind the wheel of Dad Michael’s 2011 Mercedes W02 F1 car. Decked out in Michael’s overalls and helmet from the 2011 season, it led to a truly iconic image for those watching either side of the hay bales, once again re-uniting the Silver Arrow and that famous red helmet.

It’s a special car with a lot of meaning, and I had a lot of emotions driving it.

Anyone Hungry?

Nothing says Goodwood like putting on a burnout show for the fans. While the weather wasn’t exactly hot on Friday morning, Esteban Gutierrez lit up the grounds of Goodwood House with some textbook burnouts in the W12. We think donuts in the rain might be even cooler than in the dry.

W02 on Song

Goodwood is all about stirring up memories, and for many nothing does that better than the sound of a V8 Formula One engine. An iconic part of any Festival of Speed, this year we were able to join the party, with the Mercedes W02 from 2011 in attendance. It also meant we could provide fans with a little musical party trick before the final run of the day on Sunday afternoon.

Sharing the Passion With the Fans

We always relish the chance to share the passion and love for our sport with fans, and Goodwood’s intimate nature gives us an opportunity like no other to bridge that gap. A huge thank you to everyone who came to our stand in the F1 pit lane over the course of the weekend and who cheered us on up the climb. We absolutely loved chatting with you all, swapping stories and reminiscing about the sport we love so much.

Celebrating Our Heritage

Nowhere in the motor racing world mixes history and the present day quite like Goodwood, an automotive journey through time like no other. From the Mercedes SEL 300 to the Sauber-Mercedes C9 and the Mercedes-AMG ONE, decades of Mercedes history once again laid down rubber on the hill, with further cars on display for those in attendance to enjoy and rekindle racing memories of yesteryear.
