Four Things You May Have Missed From Our Austin Weekender

They say everything is bigger in Texas. For the Team last weekend, it was the case that everything was busier in Texas.

Here's a reminder of those cool moments you might have missed from the US Grand Prix.

Academy Awards

There was a new series in town on the F1 schedule in Austin, as the F1 Academy took its place in the paddock for the first time. The series, launched earlier this year in conjunction with Formula One, aims to develop and prepare drivers to progress to higher levels of competition within motorsport.

Both Lewis and George spent time chatting with teams and drivers and managing director Susie on Thursday, and both were also keen to get involved once the track action had started too. The trio watched Saturday’s race with interest from the pit wall and Lewis was one of the first to congratulate inaugural series champion Marta Garcia on her achievement in parc fermé afterwards.

George was on hand to perform trophy presentation duties on the podium as well. The series will be a more regular fixture on the F1 calendar in 2024, with seven rounds taking place on Grand Prix weekends. We cannot wait to see all the talented drivers and teams in action next year.

Milestone Merch

It was a special weekend for George at the US GP, as he celebrated his 100th Grand Prix start. We have been lucky enough to be front and centre for 40 of those and have loved watching George’s progress through the ranks ever since he joined our Junior Programme in 2017.

To celebrate the century, we came together with George to launch this awesome vintage-inspired merch collection. A retro look for that famous 63 meant George fitted right in in Austin, and both him and the team were super excited to share this landmark range with you all!

Just Two GOATs Texting

Okay, this was cool. We all love a bit of celebrity interaction, and they do not get much bigger than Lewis and Michael Jordan. The seven-time world champion revealed he had woken up to a text from the former Chicago Bulls star over the Austin weekend, and you could feel even Lewis felt a little bit starstruck as he told crowds at the fan forum about the message.

“It’s always surreal to have a chance to meet some of these people you grew up admiring as a kid,” he said.

Super Fun With Superfans

On Friday we had the privilege of bringing in seven of our biggest superfans for a day like no other. From getting the full Paddock Club experience to garage tours, surprise meetings and more!

We loved being able to give something back to those who have shown us so much love and support over the years, and we hope they enjoyed the experience as much as we enjoyed having them with us trackside in Austin.
