Goodwood 2024: Everything You Need to Know

The glorious British summer of motorsport continues this weekend down at the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Less than a week on from an electric British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Team will head down to the south of England for four days to celebrate the best of motorsport past, present, and future.

What is the Festival of Speed?

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a celebration of motorsport, allowing fans to watch and get up close to some of the finest machinery in automotive history.

Now in its 31st year, the weekend will see an array of different cars and bikes from more a century of engineering make their way through the grounds of Goodwood House.

Fans watch on as drivers take on the famous Goodwood Hill, a 1.16-mile stretch of tarmac that weaves its way through the grounds. A forest section at the top of the hill plays host to a rally stage, for rally cars and motocross bikes from across the years to wow fans too.

In short, there will be old cars, new cars, lots of noise and definitely some donuts too! What is not to love?!

A Goodwood First

This year, the team will be represented at Goodwood by reserve driver and 2023 Formula 2 runner-up Fred Vesti.

Fred has been hard at work in the simulator and helping trackside so far this season for the Team, in between racing in the European Le Mans Series and taking part in the Le Mans and Spa 24 Hour events.

This will be Fred’s first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

I am racing fan myself. I am excited to get down to Goodwood and see everyone.

Fred

Fred said: “I want to make a good show in the W12 and excite the fans with some F1 power and maybe some donuts.

“I want to be among the fans and experience the British racing culture. I have a lot to discover and am really looking forward to it.

“I would call myself a racing fan so that is why I am excited to get down there and see everyone.”

Fred will run up the hill twice a day in our Mercedes F1 W12 E PERFORMANCE from the 2021 Formula One season, as part of the F1 batch between Friday and Saturday.

In 22 races in 2021, W12 achieved nine wins with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, with a further 19 podiums and eight pole positions.

The 613.5 points collected through the season was enough to secure an unprecedented eighth F1 World Constructors’ Title.

Mercedes at Goodwood 2024

In addition to our runs up the famous hill, fans will also be able to enjoy a incredible collection of AMG and Mercedes-Benz classic cars – which will celebrate an unmatched history in motorsport that spans 130 years.

For the first time ever, the team will have a pop-up merchandise shop at the Festival of Speed, where fans in attendance can get their hands on some of the latest team merch.

We always love Goodwood for how close it allows us to be to fans from all walks of motorsport. Our team will be set up in the F1 classic paddock from Thursday afternoon, so make sure you come and say hello if you are around!
