The fourth Sprint Qualifying session of the year at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, was a thrilling battle! Just 12 thousandths of a second separated George from pole position for Saturday's F1 Sprint. This means he will start the Sprint Race alongside Max Verstappen from P2.
Lewis, on the other hand, was unlucky. His lap was affected by a yellow flag for a spin by Franco Colapinto and he finished in P7. Until that point, he was a few tenths of a second ahead on his lap.
After just one free practice session, it was straight into Sprint Qualifying, where both drivers made it safely through the first two qualifying segments and into SQ3. The team brought a sizeable update package to Austin and the car looked competitive in all three qualifying segments.
The Sprint Race starts at 13:00 local time (19:00 BST) on Saturday, before the grid for Sunday's Grand Prix is decided in the afternoon.
