New content series lifts the lid on the technical partnership between the team and title partner PETRONAS.

Innovation in F1 has typically been a close guarded secret but a new series takes viewers behind-the-scenes and celebrates the most successful team and fuel and lubricants partnership in the modern hybrid era.

Across six separate episodes, viewers are given never-before-seen insight into the five functional PETRONAS fluids that power the team’s cars:

  • PETRONAS Primax (Fuel)

  • PETRONAS Syntium (Oil System)

  • PETRONAS Tutela (ERS)

  • PETRONAS Tutela (Gearbox/Transmission)

  • PETRONAS Tutela (Hydraulics)

The series features a range of senior technical figures from both PETRONAS and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. These include:

  • Chan Ming-Yau, Principal (Fuel Technology), PETRONAS

  • Salvatore Schembri, Project Leader F1, PETRONAS

  • Hywel Thomas, Managing Director, Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains

  • James Williams, Head of Powertrain Integration & Transmission Design, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team

  • Evan Short, Head of Trackside Electronics & Controls, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team

The PETRONAS and Mercedes-AMG F1 Team partnership celebrated its 300th Grand Prix at the United States Grand Prix in Austin. Across that time, the team has won eight Constructors’ World Championships, seven Drivers’ World Championships, taken 119 race victories, 131 pole positions, claimed 100 fastest laps, and been on the podium 279 times.
