The Circuit
Making its debut in 2009, the Yas Marina Circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke and now stretches over 5.281km with 16 corners. It has been modified in recent years to aid overtaking opportunities, which has also made it faster in places, and remains a familiar location as we enter the final round.
Traction and braking can be higher than average here, especially as the grid comes to the end of the straights on offer including the 1.2km stretch between Turns 5 and 6. Tyre management, as ever, is important here with most teams opting for a two-stop during last year’s race. Pirelli, the championship’s tyre provider, also hosts a post-season test which will occur next week and is a great chance for us to get that final bit of data out of the car before we close up 2024.
Abu Dhabi has hosted the season finale for Formula 1 every year since 2014, in addition to having the honour for the 2009 and 2010 seasons too. During that time, the circuit has witnessed many champions being crowned including our very own Lewis and Nico.
